On the gridiron, the hardwood, or diamond, in District 9-5A, you can count on a competitive rivalry, that will go down to the wire. Thursday, March 5, 2020, inside the AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, the matchup between the Holy Cross Tigers and our Purple Knights would be another competitive meeting that came down to the last few pins.
Head Coach Jarred Honora Sr, a former member of the bowling team as a student, was beaming with pride when speaking about the growth and accomplishments of the 9 member team. Some team members are first time bowlers joining the team this year. The team includes (Seniors) Jason Brousseau, Steven Soublet, Mark Joseph Jr, Johnny Kelly, Jaylon Cruise, (Junior) Braden Lewis, (Sophomore) Kejuan Henry and (8th Grader) Daryl Moran. Not pictured (Senior) David Ker III. Special thanks to Bowling Team photographer/videographer (8th Grader) Rocky Pratt.
After the first of three matches, the Tigers had the edge 550 to 452 over the Purple Knights. However, as always the case, no game nor match is over after the first and the Purple Knights would show its pride and resilience by taking charge of the second match, winning 435 to 375 over the Tigers. The Purple Knights total score following the second match was 887 and the Tigers 925.
The 3rd and final match would go back and forth with both schools taking the lead at various times, throughout, with a score of 451 to 432. Following all three matches, the final score was 1376 to 1319, with Holy Cross squeaking out the victory by pins.
Kudos to Coach Honora Sr. and the Purple Knight Bowling team on your growth and achievements this season. We are proud of you, finish strong.
The spring bowling season is shorter in comparison to the winter season, so you still have one final chance to see and support these young Purple Knight Bowlers, Monday, March 9, 2020. The match begins at 3:30 p.m. at Westside Lanes, 3715 Westbank Expy, Harvey LA 70058, as they face the Chalmette Owls.
