ESPN SportsCenter Anchor Stan Verrett, a St. Augustine High School alumnus, will be the keynote speaker at the May 2016, St. Augustine High School Commencement at Xavier University’s Convocation Center.
Verrett, born and raised in New Orleans, graduated from St. Augustine in 1984. Prior to ESPN, Verrett worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WDSU-TV, the NBC affiliate in New Orleans.
“We are excited to welcome Stan back home to reflect on his outstanding media career reporting on the world of sports,” said Oyd Craddock, St. Augustine High School President and CEO. “Stan’s career and stirring insights serve as unique inspiration to our students as they pursue their own opportunities and passions.”
Verrett, who joined ESPN as an anchor for ESPNEWS in September 2000, moved to the company’s new Los Angeles Production Facility in March 2009 to co-host the 1 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter with Neil Everett.
