NEW ORLEANS – A season filled with firsts on the First NBC Bank Prep Showcase will wrap up this week with another first: the package’s first-ever football playoff telecast.

The Division I first-round matchup between District 9-5A rivals St. Augustine and Holy Cross from Tad Gormley Stadium Friday night (November 13) will be streamed live on, Louisiana’s largest independent sports website, and broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on WHNO TV 20 Saturday (November 14) at noon.

The teams met just two weeks ago, also at Gormley, with Holy Cross taking a 23-19 victory. The Tigers, seeded seventh in the Division I bracket, finished the regular season at 6-4 overall and 3-3 in Catholic League play, while the 10th-seeded Purple Knights are 2-8 overall and 2-4 in district games.

The St. Augustine-Holy Cross winner advances to a second-round game next week against No. 2 seed Evangel Christian in Shreveport.

Ken Berthelot (play-by-play), Wayde Keiser (analyst) and Stephanie Altman (sideline) will describe the action.

While the television portion of the football schedule comes to an end this week, Prep Football presented by First NBC Bank will continue to offer web-exclusive broadcasts of key area playoff games. Announcements on web-exclusive games will be made in the days leading up to the broadcasts.

Since its inception in the spring of 2012, the First NBC Bank Prep Showcase on WHNO and SportsNOLA has presented nearly 75 high school football, basketball, baseball and wrestling events. This year’s schedule will feature up to 25 televised events, in addition to up to 35 web-only events on SportsNOLA. New Orleans-based First NBC Bank is once again the title sponsor of the package.
