Multiple Teams · Jamal Pettigrew to play in Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl

St. Aug tight end and LSU commit Jamal Pettigrew will play in the 2016 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl this winter. The fifth annual game will take place Jan. 3 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Kickoff is at 9 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

Pettigrew, son of Curtis and Racquel Pettigrew, was presented his Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl jersey Oct. 12, 2015. The jersey was presented by Sergeant Felicia Tanksley, a canvassing recruiter with the Marine Corps Recruiting station in New Orleans.

The Semper Fidelis Football Program brings together 90 student-athletes from across the country who demonstrate success both on and off the field. Semper Fidelis All-Americans are selected from top-rated high school football players in the nation. The selection process extends to selecting players based on their character, academic performance and leadership.

“The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, proudly supported by the United States Marine Corps, is designed to be different than other bowls,” the event’s website reports. The players selected to represent the country are chosen not only because they are among the most talented players in the nation, but because they bring something more to the game.

Pettigrew said he was honored to be selected to participate in an event that is associated with the Marines. “I thank the Marines for allowing me to be a part of the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, as well as for their continued service to our country,” he added.
