St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, home to the seven-time State Champion Purple Knights Basketball team, is hosting a new basketball tournament this weekend. The Purple Knights will host the Purple Knight Basketball Classic December 1 – 4, at the St. Augustine High School, Watson Jones Memorial Gym.

The Purple Knight Classic will feature ten New Orleans area teams. The field includes Alfred Bonnabel High School, Covington High School, Ellender Memorial High School, Hahnville High School, Lake Area New Tech Early College High School, Metairie Park Country Day School, McDonogh 35 High School, Sophie B. Wright Charter School, and Warren Easton High School.

Last year the Purple Knights took home the Catholic League title ending the season 24 and 8. The final game of the season saw the Purple Knights lose to the Scotlandville Hornets in St. Augustine’s final 2016 playoff match-up.

The Purple Knight Classic, Thursday game ticket prices are adults $5 and children $3. Friday through Sunday tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tournament passes are $25.

Friday 12/2/16
Game 3: Country Day vs. McDonogh 35 – 3:30 p.m.
Game 4: Lake Area vs. Hahnville – 5 p.m.
Game 5: Sophie B. Wright vs. Ellender – 6:30 p.m.
Game 6: St. Aug vs. Covington  – 8 p.m.

Saturday 12/3/16
Game 7: Bonnabel vs. Lake Area 10 a.m.
Game 8: Easton vs. McDonogh 35 – 11:30 a.m.
Game 9: Covington vs. Bonnabel – 3 p.m.
Game 10: Sophie B. Wright vs. McDonogh 35 – 4:30 p.m.
Game 11: Country Day vs. Ellender –  6 p.m.
Game 12:  St. Augustine vs. Hahnville – 8 p.m.

Sunday 12/4/16
Game 13: Lake Area vs. Easton – 12:30 p.m.
Game 14: Bonnabel vs. Sophie B. Wright – 2 p.m.
Game 15: Country Day vs. Hahnville – 3:30 p.m.
Championship Game: St. Augustine vs. Ellender – 5 p.m.
